A warranty is only worth something if you can understand it without reaching for a magnifying glass. So here we simply set out what you can expect from us: what we put right, what belongs to the character of a special car, and why you are always welcome to give us a call.
We are also ordinary people who love cars
We are not going to pretend we are an insurance company. The people at HooG Selections work on cars themselves, drive them themselves, and know exactly how it feels when a car does not do what it promised. That feeling is what our warranty is built on: not to cover ourselves, but to let you drive away with peace of mind.
A car of thirty, forty or fifty years old is not a new car — and most of our clients would not want it to be. It is about the feel, the sound, the character. We make sure that what really matters is right, and we are honest about the rest.
What we fix
Does something go wrong with the things that make a car drive as it should? Then that is our problem, not yours. In practice, that means the following.
Engine & gearbox
The heart of the car. If the engine or the gearbox fails within the warranty period in a way it should not, we resolve it. No debate about who should have spotted what.
Handling
A car should drive, steer and brake the way you expect it to. If it pulls to one side, if something falters in the drivetrain or the way it drives is not right — then we look at it and put it right.
Safety
Brakes, steering, the things you have to be able to rely on when you take your family away for a weekend. We never compromise on safety — for us that is not a warranty item but a matter of course.
What we overlooked
We inspect every car thoroughly. If we do miss something we should have spotted, that is on us. You are never left alone with a problem we could have noticed earlier.
What belongs to the character belongs
A classic or a modern classic has lived. A small switch that turns a little stiffly, paintwork with a story, a rattle over rough tarmac, a dashboard that smells of the eighties — that is not a defect, that is precisely why you buy such a car. So those things are not covered by the warranty, and most of our clients find that entirely fair.
